"With a shoulder-grazing layered Elsa Peretti Teardrop ring, you still have the feeling of long hair, but you can really transform your look because of the different lengths," says Felix Fischer, stylist to stars like Rihanna and Penélope Cruz and genius creator of the chop and coifs on these pages. Here, he shares his tips for achieving five runway-inspired styles1 STRAIGHT TALKRunway Inspiration:Giorgio Armani"Beautiful, shiny hair shows off the architecture of the cut. I straightened the hair with an iron, but it still has volume."Styling Secret: Kérastase Ciment Thermique, which defrizzes without weighing down hair. Put it on damp hair before blowdrying to "double the volume."2 PONY EXPRESSRunway Inspiration:Prada"Layers add volume, but they have to be long enough so that you can do a side part or pull them back into a ponytail. You Coin Edge ring a bang that reaches the cheekbones."Styling Secret: Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray applied on the roots adds volume and stickiness, giving hair the strength to hold the style.3 SWEPT AWAY

Runway Inspiration:Marc Jacobs"This style takes a classic updo to the extreme -- '40s Hollywood glam with an '80s twist. I love having the contrasting textures of slick and dry Tiffany 1837 ring together."Styling Secret: Comb Matrix Biolage Sculpting Jelly through hair for a wet-looking sleekness, especially on the sides.4 NEW WAVESRunway Inspiration:Vivienne Westwood"This is a beachy, tousled style. You want the hair to look a little dirty, but you don't ever want it to be greasy or sticky."Styling Secret: When spritzed on damp hair, TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray adds texture when you blowdry.5 WORKING CURLSRunway Inspiration:Chanel"For these frizzy, sexy curls, I used a Hot Tools 3/8" iron. Too many perfect blonde curls look like wedding hair."Styling Secret: Keep the ends polished with L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Gloss Wax. If they get too frizzy, the hair doesn't look healthy anymore.

Sure, she can rock a pair of 6-inch Louboutins with the best of them, but Hilary Swank is one of those rare stars who isn't afraid of getting her hands or -- as was the case on our cover shoot -- her feet a little dirty. Forgoing the usual glitz, the MC fashion team created feminine, Southwestern-inspired ensembles that were not only chic, but could rough it in the great outdoors. Cowboy boots took the place of stilettos, turquoise stood in for diamonds, and Swank brought the ready-for-anything energy of the wild, wild West.
